How to remove PCPrivacyProtect (Removal Guide)

What is PCPrivacyProtect?

PCPrivacyProtect (also known as PC Security Help) is a Trojan that utilizes various scare-mongering tactics in order to persuade victims to call a tech support phone number. PCPrivacyProtect will use various messages such as “Warning. These results may shock you. Please remain calm and contact your Certified Security Expert” to make it appear as if your computer is in a serious state and help by their (fake) tech support technicians is necessary.

PCPrivacyProtect

Once installed, the PCPrivacyProtect program will pretend to scan for “Exposed Personal Information”. When the scan claims to be finished, the program will claim that your personal information is exposed and then prompts you to call a tech support number where they will try to sell you unnecessary services and software.

The text of the PCPrivacyProtect Tech Support Scam alert message is detailed below:

Warning: Your Information is Exposed!

Your personal information and login defaults are Exposed and Vulnerable. It is strongly recommended that you clean your PC before further use.

Call a Certified Security Expert Now: +1 888 222 4747

Your browsers have the following numbers of accounts exposed. These accounts are at risk of theft. Do not hesitate, you must take immediate action.

As you can see, the warning message displayed by PCPrivacyProtect is designed to frighten victims into calling the tech support number listed on the program’s interface. The program claims you can call them for a free diagnosis and you will speak one of their certified security experts; However, the message is fraudulent and calling the phone number is not recommended.

To make matters worse, the PCPrivacyProtect program is usually advertised on websites that also advertise malware, adware, spyware, computer viruses, and other malicious threats. Websites that contain prohibited content such as video streams, torrents, and pornography will utilize unethical adverting networks that will bolster this program and other threats at the same time. This means that if you found PCPrivacyProtect installed on your computer without your knowledge it is likely that your computer is also infected with other unwanted programs, malware, and major security threats.
