How to remove PC Reg Boost virus (Removal Guide)

What is PC Reg Boost virus?

PC Reg Boost (PcRegBoost) by iNextITNetwork (or other) is dangerous malware that infects a computer, displays fake results, bombards your desktop with pop-ups, and causes other issues. Once the PC Reg Boost program has infected a computer it will scan your computer for threats. The results will always show that a large amount of “serious errors” are found and you need to fix it.

PC Reg Boost

If the program remains enabled on the machine it will automatically launch if closed and stream continuous pop-up messages on Windows Desktop. The PC Reg Boost pop-up messages on Windows Desktop take-up the entire right side of the screen and can also cover the entirety of the display. It will also open your browser on the publisher’s website pcregboost.com.

PC Reg Boost virus pop-ups

The PC Reg Boost pop-up on the Desktop will say something like “warning your computer needs to be clean.” It will claim that errors are found and that your computer is at risk and needs to be fixed. The pop-up will contain a button that says fix now and a toll free number used to various tech-support scams.

When a scan is complete with the PC Reg Boost program it will show deceptive and fraudulent results in order to trick victims into purchasing the program. The program itself is not free to use. It is only a scanner that promotes the full edition and a malicious tech-support hotline.

PC Reg Boost is detected as a Trojan, Potentially Unwanted Program, Adware, Risk Tool, and Malware by popular Antivirus programs. The reasons for this are mostly due to how the program is distributed and the results shown by the program. For example, PC Reg Boost is known to bundle with other malware, adware, spyware, potentially unwanted programs, and other threats that can harm your computer and put your privacy at risk.

If PC Reg Boost is installed on your computer without your knowledge or consent, or you downloaded the program from a suspicious source it could mean that your computer is infected with additional threats that should be removed immediately.

PC Reg Boost is often distributed by malicious third-party software bundlers and advertising networks. We found PC Reg Boost being promoted by a malicious software downloader called DownloadAssistant. The downloader was launched by a dubious executable file that claimed to be a media player update. The downloader gave us the option to decline or accept the installation of the program. Although we clicked Decline the program still downloaded and installed in the background without our consent and knowledge.

The program installing without our knowledge is likely due to the third-party distributor that the developers of PC Reg Boost chose to use and not the actual developers. The developers have taken advantage of an unethical advertising campaign that allows the program to bundle with other threats and automatically install against the computer owners demand.
