HQVideo claims to be a free program, add-on, and extension used to turn YouTube videos to High Definition by default; However, the program does not function properly, it will collect user information, and serve pop-up advertisements on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Internet Explorer.
HQVideo malware and associated programs, including browser add-ons and extensions often have permission to access and collect user information. Information such as browser activity and history is used to generate targeted advertisements on Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer.
The HQVideo extension for Chrome titled HQ-V1.8 has permission to access your data on all websites and access your tabs and browsing activity.
Advertisements display by this program are often identified by text that says something similar to “Ads by HQVideo-Pro,” although these advertisements may be served by additional third-party adware and advertising platforms.
