Learn what altdelete@cock.li.district ransomware is and how to remove the computer virus from your computer and decrypt or recover personal files for free.
What is altdelete@cock.li.district?
altdelete@cock.li.district is an email address and file extension used by some variants of District ransomware. When the ransomware infects a computer it will encrypt files using the AES-256 encryption algorithm and affix the .altdelete@cock.li.district file extension to the end of the filenames. The ransomware infection will then drop an image file and text file named READ_IT.district on the desktop and every drive’s root folder. The image dropped by the ransomware will replace the current desktop background.
Here’s an example of what is written in the text file:
You only have 96 hours to submit the payment
Danger: our contacts change every 3 days
Do not hesitate, contact us immediately
Then we will not be available
Attention: if you do not have the money then you do not need to write to us!
The file is encrypted with the AES-256 algorithm
Only we can decrypt the file!
Our email: everywhere
The ransomware uses the native text file as a ransom note. It explains what happened to the files on the computer and how to pay a ransom in order to allegedly decrypt the encrypted files (the way the malware author wants you to). It should be advised that paying the ransom will not guarantee that you will recover your files or that the infection is removed and will not appear again in the future.
