The information was likely acquired by email phishing scams, use of weak passwords, and other generic strategies.

It is also reported that the database of Gmail usernames and passwords leaked on the internet may be outdated; However, it is still recommended to immediately change your Gmail password.

You can check if your email address has been published by using a safe website called isleaked.com (https://isleaked.com/en). To use the website, simply enter your Gmail email address into the search field and click the “Check it” button found on the webpage. Even if your Gmail email account is not listed, it is still recommended to change your password.

This threat only affects less than 1% of Gmail users. Google Gmail currently has over 500,000,000 users.
