The best ad blockers for Google Chrome
Ad blocker extensions for Google Chrome allow you to block advertisements and sometimes elements while you browse the web. They keep you safe from malware and potentially unwanted programs (PUPS), clean up a website, and block annoying advertisements that get in the way.
There are many ad blocker extensions for Google Chrome; However, many of them do not block some advertisements or are obsolete (like ABP). I have compiled a small list of the best ad block extensions for Google Chrome that will help you block all advertisements or just the advertisements you want to block while you navigate through the internet.
uBlock Origin
Finally, an efficient blocker. Easy on CPU and memory.

uBlock Origin is an efficient Chrome extension that blocks most advertisements including pop-up ads and pop-under ads that other Chrome extensions miss. Where uBlock Origin stands out is that it block pesky pop-under advertisements that appear in a new window or tab and it has more filters than other Chrome extensions. However, I have noticed that the extensions will not block all pop-under ads. It will only block about 90% of pop-under advertisements by default.
Although the uBlock Origin extension for Google Chrome will not block all pop-under advertisements it still blocks more than other ad-blockers aside from the Pop up blocker for Chrome™ and uBlock Adblocker Plus extensions listed below. A great way to block all advertisements it to use uBlock Origin and Pop up blocker for Chrome™ simultaneously.
Another important fact about the extension is that it is not essentially an ad-blocker. It is a wide-spectrum blocker that can function as an ad-blocker. It can be used in a manner similar to NoScript (to block scripts) and/or RequestPolicy (to block all 3rd-party servers by default), using a click-and-point user interface.
Pop up blocker for Chrome™ – Poper Blocker
#1 extension to block annoying popups, popunders & overlays in an easy & effective way. Browse without interference on all sites.
Pop up blocker for Chrome™ is a Chrome extension that primarily focuses on stopping pop-up style advertisements, like pop-under ads. Pop-under ads are those pesky advertisements that appear in a new browser window or tab. A lot of streaming media websites utilize these types of advertisements now-a-days and most ad-blocking extensions for Chrome will not block them. Luckily, Pop up blocker for Chrome™ easily blocks pop-under advertisements and gives you the ability to white-list websites or allow a pop-up to appear once from an website.
A banner will sometimes appear when it blocks a pop-up advertisement that notifies you when its working and provides you with options to white-list or allow the ad. The banner does not get in the way and can simply be closed.
The Pop up blocker for Chrome™ extension will block overlay pop-up advertisements that appear within the same page. A lot of ad-blocking extensions for Chrome have issues blocking these types of ads. If the Pop up blocker for Chrome™ extension misses the overlay advertisement you can click the Pop up blocker for Chrome™ icon for options to block or allow it. If you chose to block the overlay advertisement, the Pop up blocker for Chrome™ extension will block it every time unless you white-list it or allow it.
Overall, this is a great browser extension for Google Chrome to block pop-up advertisements, pop-under advertisements, and overlaying advertisements that other extensions do not block by default. The extension is easy to use. Simply install the extension, make sure it is enabled, and it will begin to block annoying ads in your browser. The downside to this extension is that it does not stop some banner style advertisements; Therefor, it is best to bundle this extension with another one such as uBlock Origin.
uBlock Adblocker Plus
This modern adblock removes all advertisements on every website.
uBlock Adblocker Plus is a fast ad-blocker extension for Chrome. It is a fork of Adblock Pro and uBlock Origin. They use the code under GPL and removed tracking and added some filters to their extension making it powerful and light-weight.
The uBlock Adblocker Plus extension is easy to use and has great features. You can easily white-list any website you would like to and can block all pop-up and elements on any website with a mouse click.
Although I have seen uBlock Origin and Adblock Plus-type extensions miss pop-under advertisements, the uBlock Adblocker Plus extension seems to block them all. I have yet to see uBlock Adblocker Plus fail to block an advertisement which puts it high on the list of best ad blocker extensions for Google Chrome.
