Fake “Message from Facebook” – Update your preferences or get terminated

Beware of webpages that contain a fake message from Facebook. The fake message from Facebook webpage is a web campaign designed to get you to click irrelevant advertisements that you have no businesses clicking on. The advertisements displayed on the fake message from Facebook webpages may contain malicious links or be used to simply help the party trying to trick you to generate revenue via CPC advertisements. CPC advertisements, or Cost-Per-Click advertisements help parties generate money each time someone clicks on one of their advertisements.

The fake message from Facebook webpages contains several types of misleading and dishonest messages that claims to be from Facebook. Once of the most common messages states that months ago “you were given notice that your privacy settings needed to be updated regarding ads being displayed to you” and that “failure to do so will result in immediate account termination.” It should boldly be noted that this message is not actually from Facebook and there is no truth behind it. If you do not update your Facebook preferences or settings you will not be affected by anything.

This webpage is often the cause of an unethical advertising platform embedded into questionable websites or adware on your computer.
