How to delete Google Search History

Did you know that Google stores all of your Google Search history and browsing data if you are logged into the website or app? It’s true. Google stores everything you search for online from your computer, Android smartphone, iphone, and other mobile browsers. Google truly stores everything. For some reason, in 2014 I spent an entire morning researching the cast of Arrow and information about the DC comic books. At the same time I also looked up the horrid Phoenix Suns basketball team. It kind of makes you uncomfortable doesn’t it? What if someone had access to your Google account? They would be able to download all the content and share it online. Fortunately, you can delete your Google Search History and stop Google from storing your history in their database.

This guide shows you how to delete your Google Search History. You can delete Google Search History items one at a time, or multiple items at once. You can even prevent Google from saving future searches.

How to delete Google Search History

Delete Google Searches one at a time

1. Log into your Google account and visit: https://history.google.com/history/

2. Check the box next to the items you want to remove and click Remove items at the top of the page.

Delete multiple Google Searches

1. Log into your Google account and visit: https://history.google.com/history/

2. On the top right corner of the page, click Options  > Remove items.

3. Choose the time period for which you want to delete your history. You can choose the past hour, the past day, the past week, the past 4 weeks, and you can delete all of your Google Search History by selecting “the beginning of time.”

4. Click Remove.

Prevent Google from storing your Google Search History

1. Log into your Google account and visit: https://www.google.com/settings/accounthistory/search

2. Where it says “Your searches and browsing activity” click the little blue slider.

3. A new window that says “Pause Web and & Activity” will appear. Click Pause.
