Facebook is down due to server failure

*The Facebook error has been resolved.

You may have attempted to visit Facebook today to notice a Facebook error page that says “Sorry, something went wrong.” This is because Facebook is down due to a server failure. There is no ETA as to when Facebook will resurrect.

It does not appear that Facebook has been hacked or that they are a victim to a DDOS attack. There is no fact or speculation to support this theory. Instead, this is assumed to be a server issue or simple maintenance protocol.

Facebook rarely goes down. In fact, founder Mark Zuckerberg has been quoted for saying “Facebook would never go down.” This is apparent on the error page as the copyright year is outdated.

This Facebook error is international and has even caused errors with the Facebook developer tools. Meaning, no one could click “like” or even properly view the Facebook button on a webpage.
