How to remove Desktop Games (Virus Removal Guide)

What is Desktop Games?

Desktop Games, or Desktop.Games, is a rebranded Android emulator that is considered unsafe and recognized as malware or a potentially unwanted program. Multiple antivirus engines detect Desktop Games as a Trojan, malware, or adware. The primary purpose of Desktop Games is to install auxiliary software that may include malware, adware, browser hijackers, spyware, and potentially unwanted programs.

One of the biggest issues that users have with the Desktop Games is that it does not include an appropriate uninstall procedure. There is no option to uninstall Desktop Games in the Windows Control Panel and the malware cannot be found in the Start menu like other programs. Furthermore, Desktop Games hides it’s directory files by creating folders with different names. For example, a folder housing files used to run Desktop Games may be located in a directory folder at this path: C: > Program Files > MobiGame.

To add more, Desktop Games utilizes deceptive and misleading marketing strategies in order to trick users into downloading and installing it. The malware may claim to be a game such as Minecraft, but in reality, it is only an Android emulator that doesn’t really work and is considered unsafe.

This is a list of symptoms that may occur if this program is installed:

  • “Play Store” icon on Windows desktop
  • Pop-up advertisements
  • Unwanted notifications
  • Browser redirects
  • Negative computer performance and functionality
  • Computer crashes
  • Data collection resulting in unwanted contact

Other symptoms may be present as a result of additional malware that may bundle with Desktop Games.

Desktop Games cannot be uninstalled from Add/Remove Programs like legitimate Windows programs. However, an uninstall.exe file may be located here:

C: > Program files > MobieGame > player > uninstaller
