Several Google sites and services including YouTube, Gmail, Snapchat, Discord, Vimeo, Nest, Shopify, and Google Analytics are down in multiple regions including North America. The problem appears to be an issue with Google’s Cloud service that is used to power apps and Google’s own web services like Gmail, YouTube, AdSense, or Analytics.
Google Cloud first reported the issue at 12:25 today and said “We are investigating an issue with Google Compute Engine. We will provide more information by Sunday, 2019-06-02 12:45 US/Pacific.” The next report by Google Cloud informed us that the outage is related to a larger network issue. Finally, the third error at 13:36 stated that the issue is still ongoing and that they are experiencing high levels of network congestion in the eastern USA, affecting multiple services in Google Cloud, GSuite and YouTube. Google says that users may see slow performance or intermittent errors.
Google Cloud then confirms that they believe they have identified the root cause of the congestion and expect to a return to normal service soon.
Vimeo which uses Google Cloud on the backend is also experiencing outages.
