What is Meme Virus?

Meme Virus (also called Meme Virus v1.0 by NinjaGhost, Godsomware, and God Crypt v1.0) is ransomware that blocks access to your computer and claims that it has encrypted important files on your computer. However, the Meme Virus has not actually encrypted files, it is just a threat that might be done out of humor by the malware author.

When the ransomware has infected your computer it changes the background of your computer to a message of a fake ransom note then displays a series of notification messages, a standard ransomware interface that asks for $100 worth of bitcoin, and eventually spams images of crying faces, troll faces, memes, and the nyan cat.

Meme Virus seems to be joke ransomware designed to annoy you and obtain a ransom payment. It does not actually encrypt files even though it claims to many times. There is a solution to unlock this ransomware as it uses a universal key.
