The Wajam virus (also known as Wajam Search virus) is a deceptive potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware that often gets installed without user knowledge. Wajam is known to generate a wide variety of pop-up advertisements across Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Internet Explorer. It also causes browser redirects to search.wajam.com, wajam.com, search.wajam.com/search/results?keywords=, and other webpages.
Wajam may also redirect users to www.wajam.com/user/all/feed, which is essentially a static page that displays the users Facebook feed and allows users to search the Wajam website.
Wajam installs to a Windows computer and attaches browser add-ons and extensions to popular internet browsers. It also installs rogue Facebook application to Facebook accounts that are logged in.
The program is also known to change existing settings of Microsoft Windows and affected internet browsers, as well as Facebook. This causes unwanted browser redirects to search.wajam.com and other webpages.
The program and it’s attachments are also known to be very intrusive. The Wajam extension for Google Chrome has permission to access all the data on your computer and the websites you visit and the Facebook app collects personal data including browsing history, activity, Facebook activity, friend’s Facebook activities (including what your friends search for, like, and websites they visit).
