How to remove the AllSearchApp virus – proxy.allsearchapp.com removal instructions

What is the AllSearchApp virus (hijacker)?

The AllSearchApp virus (or All Search App virus) is a term for potential malware categorized as a browser hijacker and smartphone and tablet application for Android and iPhone that infects a system without consent and changes internet browser settings. AllSearchApp malware causes unwanted browser redirections to proxy.allsearchapp.com and other websites and also changes homepage and start up settings, causing infected browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Internet explorer to redirect to allsearchapp.com, allsearch.com, and other websites.

The AllSearchApp browser hijacker and associated malware may collect sensitive user information, especially information manually submitted online and discussed over social media such as home addresses, telephone numbers, names of friends, names of family members, friends email addresses, credit information, online passwords, and much more. Information collected by AllSearchApp and relating parties may be in crimes involving credit theft, extortion, and identity theft. Furthermore information collected may be used as a base in telephone calls from scam artists who may claim to be a legitimate source, such as an ISP, Microsoft, or a corporate lead.

How does AllSearchApp infect a computer?

AllSearchApp primarily infects a computer alongside free downloadable content such as freeware, shareware, codecs, and torrents. In some cases a user downloaded a computer font and was unpleasantly surprised with a redirection to proxy.allsearchapp.com. In other cases browser hijackers and redirection viruses can be contracted by clicking links in suspicious emails, advertisements, and social media messages.

Removing AllSearchApp (Smartphones and Tablets)

If your Android or iPhone smartphone is redirecting to an allsearchapp.com website or unwanted search engine, you will need to remove the application causing such issues. Access your application manager to detect and remove/uninstall any unwanted applications.

1. Uninstall AllSearchApp (2 options)

Option 1: Windows Uninstall (Manual Uninstall)

1. Access Windows Start Menu and navigate to the Control Panel.

3. In the list of installed programs search for AllSearchApp and other suspicious third party programs. Uninstall AllSearchApp and unwanted software by double clicking the program’s icon, or highlight the program in the list and click the Uninstall button/tab.

2. Once installed, navigate to ToolsUninstall tab and locate AllSearchApp and other unwanted software in the list. To automatically uninstall AllSearchApp and other software click Run Uninstaller.

2. Scan computer for malware (Automated removal)

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware can be used to detect and remove malware from your computer system.

1. Install the free or paid version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware software.

2. Once Malwarebytes is installed, run the program. If you are using the free version of Malwarebytes you will be prompted to update the database, please do so.

3. Open the first tab labeled “Scanner” and select the Perform full scan option. Click the Scan button to perform a full system scan. Malwarebytes will automatically detect malware infecting your computer system.

4. Once the full system scan is complete, Malwarebytes may prompt a message stating malicious objects were detected. Select the malicious objects and click the Remove Selected button to completely remove the malicious files from your computer (the image below shows a file that is NOT selected).

3. Automatically repair browser settings (Automated repair)

CCleaner can also be used to repair internet browser settings and stop your browser from redirecting to unwanted websites.

1. Install the free or paid version of CCleaner by Piriform and run the program.

2. Once installed, run the program and navigate to Cleaner > Windows/Applications and click the Analyze button. Afterwards, click the Run Cleaner button on the bottom right of the program interface.

3. Next, navigate to Tools > Startup and search through each tab starting from windows, internet explorer, etc., all the way to Content Menu, for additional suspicious entries and click Disable and Delete once anything is found. Look for anything that may be suspicious or contain “All, Search, or App” in the title or filename.
