Windows 8 Tutorial – Metro Apps on the Desktop
It’s very simple to show the Windows 8 metro-style applications folder on the desktop.
Instructions:
1. Right click the Windows 8 desktop and navigate to New > Shortcut.
2. Copy and paste the line below into the “Type the location of the item” text field and press Next.
%windir%\explorer.exe shell:::{4234d49b-0245-4df3-b780-3893943456e1}
3. Type a name for the new Windows 8 desktop shortcut in the text field, such as Apps, and click Finish.

You now have a folder to access Windows 8 metro-style apps from your desktop. Please note, you can not drag applications onto the desktop.
