What is Films Search and how do I remove it?
Films Search is a browser extension for Google Chrome that claims to provide you with a way to watch movie trailers and explore popular movies and TV shows. The extension is a concern to your privacy because it can read your browsing history, read your online data, and modify your browser settings.
When the Films Search extension is installed it will change your browser’s default search engine to movie.searchmedia.club. If you search the web, you will be forwarded to movie.searchmedia.club and then to search.yahoo.com. This is typically done by questionable browser extensions to track what you search for online.
In reality, the Films Search extension is just a marketing tool that only provides value to marketing agencies, advertisers, and whomever else wants your personal information. Movie trailers and information about movies and TV shows is easy to find online, with the use of a search engine, or knowledgeable website. Avoid using a browser extension with so many permissions if you are seeking new information about movies and TV shows.
- Read and change all your data on .getmedia.club and movie.searchmedia.club
- Read your browsing history
- Display notifications
- Change your search settings to: movie.searchmedia.club
If you have concerns about your privacy, use a reputable search engine that blocks advertising trackers and keeps your search history private such as Duckduckgo.com.
