CouponSupport is adware that primarily installs to a Microsoft Windows computer system and attaches to Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Internet Explorer as a browser add-on, extension, and helper object without direct user consent in order to display targeted advertisements and cause other issues.

CouponSupport malware and associated programs, including browser add-ons and extensions like cosstminn have permission to access and collect user information such as browser activity and history, which is then used to generate unwanted advertisements on Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer. Collected user information may also be distributed to third-party mailing lists, resulting in unwanted email spam, junk mail, and telephone calls from telemarketers.

Advertisements display by this program are often identified by text that says something similar to “Ads by CouponSupport,” although these advertisements may be served by additional third-party adware and advertising platforms and can say something entirely different.

CouponSupport associates with and bundle with additional third-party malware and PUPs. In turn, a computer user may experience advertisements served from third-party platforms such as RightCoupon, browser redirects to malicious websites when opening a new browser window or tab, browser redirects when searching the web using the affected browser’s address bar, hijacked homepage settings, and more.
