How to remove Browse-Secure.com (Virus Removal Guide)

If the searches you perform in the address bar redirect to Browse-Secure.com and then to Google it means that your internet browser is infected with a malicious browser extension such as the Browse-Secure for Chrome extension. The native browser extension modifies your existing internet browser settings and replaces your homepage, new tab page, and default search engine with the website. As a result, this causes your browser to start on the site, redirect to the site when you open a new browser tab, and redirect to http://www.browse-secure.com/search?q= and then to https://www.google.com/webhp when you search the web.

This isn’t a common redirect infection that simply modifies your browser. The native extension actually tracks your IP address and tries to harvest your personal information such as your email address, first and last name, date of birth, mobile phone number, and home address.

Once the native extension is installed it will connect to Facebook and LinkedIn and attempt to harvest your sensitive information from the networks. If you are logged into your social media accounts, the native extension will be able to collect sensitive data about you.

To make the occurrence worse, browser add-ons and extensions associated with the website often bundle with and are advertised alongside other security threats including malware, adware, spyware, and dangerous computer viruses. The other threats can cause a wide variety of other symptoms and can put your personal information at risk of being used for unknown purposes without your consent or knowledge.
