How to remove the WebCake virus – WebCake malware removal instructions

What is the WebCake virus (WebCake malware)?

The WebCake virus (Web Cake) is a broad term used to identify WebCake malware such as as adware, browser hijackers, and spyware including WebCake Deals, WebCake Ads, WebCake Related Searches, WebCake Toolbar, and more. The WebCake virus is responsible for a variety of symptoms including pop-up advertisements, in-text advertisements, coupon-deal advertisements, and unwanted browser redirections and startups to suspicious search engines such as Conduit.

WebCake virus

WebCake software, including the WebCake add-on and extensions (Toolbar) can be manually and voluntarily downloaded from a variety of websites including getwebcake.com, as WebCake is promoted as a legitimate browser enhancement tool. The truth is WebCake is reported as dangerous and extremely invasive malware developed to target unsuspecting victims and entrap them to terms they would not agree with if presented with in a proper manner. WebCake malware may also bundle with third-party items without consent or knowledge of the computer user including freeware, shareware, codecs, and torrents. Removing and uninstalling third-party software and browser attachments may stop WebCake advertisements from appearing and vice versa.

Victims of the WebCake virus claim that they receive an excess of email spam, calls from telemarketers, and junk mail. This often concludes that WebCake may be considered spyware and associate with spyware. However, it can also be concluded that WebCake collects sensitive information including information manually submitted online and browser activity, which is sold to third-parties. These third-parties may include unethical organizations and individuals who participate in crime involving credit theft, extortion, and identity theft.
